    Perfluorinated compounds, as surfactants and protectants, have been widely used in industrial production and daily products such as carpets, leather, and floor wax since they began to be produced in the1950s. Perfluorinated compounds possess characteristics of persistent organic pollutants such as high toxicity, persistence, bioaccumulation, and long-distance transportation.


    On March 1, 2023, the "Key Controlled New Pollutants List (2023 Edition)" came into effect, which includes 14 types of key controlled new pollutants such as perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and its salts, and perfluorooctanoic acid and its salts.On December 5, 2023, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment releasedHJ 1333-2023 "Water Quality Determination of Perfluorooctane Sulfonate and Perfluorooctanoic Acid and Their Salts using Isotope Dilution/Liquid Chromatography-Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry" andHJ 1334-2023 "Soil and Sediment Determination of Perfluorooctane Sulfonate and Perfluorooctanoic Acid and Their Salts using Isotope Dilution/Liquid Chromatography-Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry" standards for the first time, providing support for the control of new pollutants.

The automated pretreatment equipment is integrated throughout the entire testing process, helping lab technicians perform rapid and contamination-free pretreatment of perfluorinated compounds, ensuring fast, efficient, and accurate testing.


    Water Sample Pretreatment


    Water Sample Pretreatment Process


    • Preprocessing water sample: Take 500 ml of water sample, add 50μL of extraction internal standard solution with a concentration of 0.2μg/ml, mix well. Use a suction filtration unit and filter membrane to filter. After filtering, adjust thepH to 6~8 with acetic acid or ammonia water.


    • Activate column: 6 ml 2% ammonia water-methanol solution, 6 ml methanol and 6 ml water activation.


    • Enrichment: Load sample at a flow rate of 8 ml/min


    • Elution: 6 ml water and 8 ml ammonium acetate solution (25 mmol/L,pH=4) elution.


    • Drying: Dry the small column for 15 minutes.


    • Elution: Elute with 8 ml methanol and 6 ml 2% ammonia water-methanol solution.


    • Concentration: Blow nitrogen to near dryness (water bath temperature≤40℃).


    • Prepare for injection: Add 50 μL of injection internal standard solution with a concentration of 0.2μg/ml, make up to 1.0 ml with methanol, vortex, filter, and then perform machine analysis.

    Soil and Sediment Pretreatment


    Soil and Sediment Pretreatment Process


    • Extraction: Take 2g of sample in a 50 ml test tube, add 50μL of 0.2μg/ml internal standard extraction solution and 10 ml of 50% methanol aqueous solution, and mix with Raykol MTV 3000 multi-tube vortex mixer for 1 min. Oscillate at room temperature for 2h with a horizontal shaker and centrifuge for 10 min. Repeat the extraction once and combine the two extracts. After filtering the extract, add 80 ml of water, adjust the pH to 6-8 with acetic acid or ammonia, and wait for purification


    • Activate the column: 6 ml of 2% ammonia-methanol solution, 6 ml of methanol and 6 ml of water for activation


    • Enrichment: Load at a flow rate of 8 ml/min


    • Eluent: 6 ml of water and 8 ml of ammonium acetate solution (25 mmol/L, pH=4)


    • Drying: Blow dry the small column for 15 minutes


    • Elution: 8 ml of methanol and 6 ml of 2% ammonia-methanol solution

    • Fix the volume and load on the machine: Add 50 μL of the injection internal standard solution with a concentration of 0.2μg/ml, dilute to 1.0 ml with methanol, vortex mix, filter and analyze on the machine
